Cultural Competency in Health

Cultural competency for health professionals is a critical training to ensure respectful and high-quality care. The Human Development Institute's Kentucky Inclusive Health Collaborative has worked closely with KY’s Office of Health Equity to reinvigorate the state’s focus on health literacy and cultural competency. This video emphasizes why health professionals should be mindful of the diverse lived experience of the patients they serve, including demographics, cultural differences, systematic barriers, and implicit bias.
