Kentucky Asthma Management Program

Starting in 2022, The Human Development Institute‘s (HDI) Kentucky Inclusive Health Collaborative (KIHC) partnered with The Kentucky Asthma Management Program through The Kentucky Department for Public Health, Division of Prevention and Quality Improvement. The Kentucky Department for Public Health received a five-year grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that focuses on implementing evidence-based strategies to improve asthma control services and reduce asthma morbidity, mortality and disparities.

Our Role

In an effort to reach targeted populations with a particular focus on adults and youth with disabilities and their caregivers, HDI-KIHC utilizes principles of universal design to review, revise and adapt existing resources and educational tools regarding asthma health. Additionally, new resources will be created like our Asthma and Disability handout in an effort to create products that are inclusive of everyone. In the future, HDI-KIHC will develop and facilitate training on how to implement universally designed resources in asthma health education and practice.

Funding for this training was received from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) National Center for Environmental Health Asthma Program, grant NUE1EH001372.
