Collages for Health

Purpose: Making a collage is a great way to create a visible reminder of health goals and information. This can be done following the creation of health goals or even after a lesson on a particular health topic such as nutrition. Once completed, encourage participants to hang their collage in an area the often see for encouragement and inspiration.

Materials needed:

  • Magazines
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Textured fabric
  • Other craft items

Instructions: Tell participants what their collage should represent (health goals, healthy things they are already doing or hoping to start doing, nutritious food, etc.) They can be creative and make it look however they would like by cutting out pictures and words or writing and drawing on their collage. Craft material and fabric can be used to create unique looks. Once finished, participants can share with the group and explain why they chose to include what they did.

Adaptations: Pictures can be torn for those with dexterity issues who have trouble using scissors. Consider bringing a stapler or hot glue gun for any craft fabrics that might not easily stick with glue.
